just removed a load of boarding from the back of my 110 van and the previous owner had just screwed it all through the wheel boxes so I'm now left with a load of holes. What's the best way to fill them? A friend suggested rivets if that's the way forward can someone recommend the best type? I'm assuming solid aluminum to avoid rust but don't know which head type would be best

Depends on the size of holes, how many, where they are exactly. And how much effort and cost you want to spend on it. But there are certainly lots of options, from doing nothing to having them aluminium welded up and painted.
