I lost my standard disco 1 filler cap (or rather, I forgot to put it back on and drove off without it ) I have since bought a generic one from a petrol station but it says it's for temporary use only. It fits nicely and it was cheap but if I rolled over, I'm sure it would pop out. Will it fail an MOT with one of these?

There are 2 different plastic temp ones. The solely push in if I remember right is a fail. There is a plastic push in that has a big screw in the middle to lock it in place, that was passable (maybe an advisory though).

If your worried enough to ask on here, borrow one for the MOT or stump up at a scrappy.

^ As pikey said - its locked away so MOT man can't do feck all
Eer think you'll find he can it's a testable item, most fords need the key to open the bonnet does that mean the MOT man can't look under the bonnet  no i don't think so.

Fuel cap is a pre-test item - ie if it is missing, not removable or inaccessible then it's a "Refusal to test".

It's one of the things that VOSA frequently try to catch testers out with on their bait cars.
