whatever
when parking the fender up i get a bit of the normal rocking forward with the handbrake on,over time can this cause a halfshaft to snap? am i doing it wrong

You do get roll which is a characteristic of the transmission handbrake but the fact it is significant enought for you to ask the question I guess it must be quite noticeable. I would tentitively suggest that perhaps you are applying the handbrake before the vehicle has come to a complete halt????

no litch turning it off, sticking the handbrake on,then putting her in gear

no ,thats how a transmission brake works ,on steep hills i let it take up the slack using foot brake to steady it till plays taken up

Shouldn't cause any issue with 1/2 shafts (or UJ's, diffs or props for that matter), the amount of torque going through these components when it rocks on the handbrake will be insignificant compared to the amount of torque going through them when pulling away or towing.

+1. Its only a problem if you apply the trans brake while still moving.
