Ah...I see this is going well :p

Re accommodation, we did spend a lot and time and effort looking for somewhere with better options but the only places that had on site rooms with options for camping and a venue for the rally itself charge thousands for use of facilities before anyone even pays for a pitch or room.

That's assuming they'd have us.

Caravan hire might be worth looking at but that's probably not cheap either.

I spent a fair amount of effort trying to stir up interest and what was wanted especially from the Freelanders but got very little feedback so I'm not sure what the answer is there.

The focus from the beginning was to try and make everything as comfortable as possible while keeping costs down but even I was surprised at how posh the toilets, showers and big marquee were (carpet ) We were lucky with the weather but were prepared for much worse.

I know things are getting personal that has nothing to do with the bash but 110w especially put enormous amounts of effort into finding somewhere for us and I for one appreciate it hugely.

Constructive critism is always useful but a head butting compitition isn't so can we please stop dissing what was a celebration of 10 years of LZ. It was never going to be perfect but lots of folk in many different ways gave it a bloody good shot :)

:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::praise:

In an ideal world we would find a camp site with , camping, caravan and hotel facility on site that could sleep 100 and that also had a rally field that could accept maybe 200 landies , with water and electric hook ups oh and that was both in the North of the country and was also simultaniously in the South too - I'm all ears if anyone knows the telephone number of that site

Err am I missing something, did you really drink that much at £3 a pint that you've lost your memory....

You stopped there last weekend !!!

Unfortunately we couldn't get there this year despite trying everything we could to get out of previous commitments.

I have nothing but total respect and admiration for those that were involved in the organisation of this event.

I was a little depressed last weekend because I could not attend, even more so today reading some of the comments on this thread.

Glad that it seems a great time was had by all who did attend, any event is nothing without people.

I am committing to nothing next year until the LZ11 dates are released

Everyone surely realises that the Freelander v Defender thing is just jokey forum banter though..? It obviously doesn't transfer to real life or LZ meets, surely we're not suggesting that it had anything to do with the low FL attendance? Isn't it more likely that because the FL is a crossover model, plenty of members on here joined the forum more for mechanical help & advice for their vehicle than because they are actual LR enthusiasts as such? (note I said 'plenty' not 'all' before Hippo starts lol!)

i'm sure 99.99% are sane and agree with you :D

i think you need to hammer the advertising for the next one

I think there's been some really constructive ideas on here and even the ones I took a bit of umbridge to have to be considered for the next years bash , so as not to be a minority event but can be even more inclusive of all members ideas :)

intention is to attend the next do.

reasons for non attendance this year was a personal issue and then finances took a dump which ruled it out completely.

shame as I had said I would attend, and really wish I could have.
even offered sue the caravan so she could stop on site.

next time mebe, kudos to all that took part in the organising.

Completely off track here but is it just me or does anyone else see a member down there ↓ as paula...I only twigged it was paul daf when he spoke about his Mrs

You can please some of the people, all of the time.
You can please all of the people, some of the time.
You CAN'T please all of the people, all of the time.

The organisers worked damn hard to sort this meet out, unfortunately there will always have to be compromises which might not suit some people. This does not mean they were deliberately alienated.

I'm sure ALL points will be considered for next year, but there still may be things that remain unworkable. I know that this will not be for the want of trying to arrange it.

i'll put a pint on your an engineer of some description, and not in a managerial position :D

totally agree with ya, btw :D

Can we get back on track please, this thread is about the LZ party and feed back, I had a great time. And would love to help out next year

I cant believe how this thread has turned around into a back biting contest.
bb and 110 woman along with others put a lot of there own time and effort and in some cases money into making sure this event went ahead,

you will never please everyone as the perfect event and location doesn't exist to suit every member on lz..

instead of bitching and back biting maybe think about how (if you want to) you can attend the next event and enjoy the company of your fellow lzers
if you don't want to then that's upto you but dont put down other peoples efforts as its a very thankless job that was carried out to make sure the event actually went ahead

for what its worth..

toilets..PERFECT..never seen any better in a field.
position of toilets...PERFECT...right in the middle...if more people had bothered to come then would have been in ideal postion..people complaining to far away could have pitched up closer to them???

BEER...£3 a pint..not bad..london prices are higher..festival prices are £5+...besides...people selling had to make a profit/break even..AGAIN if more people there then would have sold more so prehaps would not have had to charge £3 to make a profit..(maybe they turned up, saw 30 cars and thought..bugger no money here.better charge £3??)...if was for charity..then stop complaining...bring one's own??

site..bloody wonderfull..

people there...again wonderfull!!

weather..yes could do better next time!

food...well i am veggie...TRIP was made espically to acomodate me..SO HAPPY about that...so excellent!...mrs is meaty eater...said bacon burgers was best ever...so 10 outa 10..

PLEASE PLEASE..more people next time...make the effort..the more there the better it will be..
