Some of you will know I recently did up the head on my '98 FL1 which has the K series 1.8. Straight away it leaked coolant from above the radiator return connection/ temp probe mounting site. I replaced it with a Payen BW750 and all is well now.

I contacted the supplier re' the original HG and explained that one of the fire rings had failed to crush down as expected - the cylinder closest to the distributor. I was expecting to have to package up the gaskets and return them to the supplier. Happily that wasn't required and they have refunded me.

Pretty good service I'd say.

What brand was the faulty head gasket, do you think it was just a fault with the one you had or a fault with all the head gaskets made by that company.

That's a good result.
I've seen this fire ring issue lots of times. It's a pain doing the job twice.

Brand - it was an OEM from Rimmers. I've heard of that fault happening before and Nodge observed that also. I've not seen a particular brand mentioned.
