Hi everyone.
2000 4.0 Thor 80K miles
This problem hopefully someone will be able to identify before I start ordering bits haphazardly and just hoping for a result. I have had a trawl through previous threads but cant find this specific set of conditions so please bear with me.

Ist experience two days ago. All normal. Parked up. On return Engine Faulty message and no start. Ran the selector a number of times and all returned to normal.
2nd experience. Today started up and immediately in limp mode. Ran it for a few miles hoping for normality but no. Stopped and tried the selector run through but this time problem still remains.
P no light and no dash indicator. Occasional red indicator light though on the selector as if there is a faulty connection. Faulty gearbox comes on
R no light and will not engage.
N light on and N on dash. Can start the car now and use R and D. Have not driven it to see if proper drive is there for fear of a total melt down
D Light on and D on dash
3 Light on and 3 on dash
2 Light on and 2 on dash
1 Light on and 1 on dash
Sport now dead
Turn off and no change to above.

Because the red indicator lights are a bit random and sensitive to the Gear stick I only assume two things but you may say otherwise.
XYZ selector switch on gearbox gone.
Selector matrix switch at the gear stick dead or at least going that way.

Any ideas please gratefully received
Many thanks
Simon

A search on here should point you in the right direction - and find you other poor sods who've had similar problems o_O :D

OK got my act together and found the gear box part on the Nano.
P0705 POSITION MONITORING SWITCH
Presume thats code for XYZ? Correct?

Well guys thanks for replies. Have bought a second hand one for £40 so hopeful it will get me going again. Will open the old one is up and give it the once over. If repairable then it can sit on the shelf as backup.
Did you climb underneath and check for play at the cable end?
