Can anyone point me in the direction of the fault diagnosis connection point on a '99 TD5 Auto? :confused:

I have just bought a Haynes manual for what I thought to be correct for this car, however, Haynes being Haynes...it isn't ,or at least doesn't appear to be! :(

Is there a Haynes manual specific to the Discovery TD5?
The manual I bought is for Discovery '98 (S) to '04 but has no ref to the rear suspension air bags and clearly implies that all Discos have rear shock/spring set up only. :doh:

When reverting the rear air 'shocks' back to a conventional system do I need to buy springs and shocks as a set or just springs? I have seen kits advertised on ebay but they seem to imply that only spring are required.

Summary then:

1) Fault diagnosis connector location?
2) Is there TD5 (specific) maintenance manual?
3) What is required to revert rear air shocks to a conventional spring set
up?

just above where the clutch peddle should be
and for the springs there sould be 2 springs 2 seats for the axal and 2 rubber rings to go on top of the springs

Haynes manual is in: suspension and steering, page 11.9, section 14 for rear air suspension.
If you mean the diagnostics connector thing for nanocoms etc, its on the drivers side to the left of the steering wheel about knee level,depending on how long your legs are though.
Not sure about a manual specific to the td5 but im sure there probably is, if you search around the internet you should find manuals and parts catalogues to download.
 
Also you could find you have an insurance issue when you go from air to coil, hope it that helps.

Ok cheers, will check the diagnostics connector location tomorrow after I've dealt with the puddles in the centre console! (bloody sunroofs)
 
Tell me about it i got 2 leaky sunroofs on the td5, i usually just wind it a little bit more than it should go, seems to work.

Indeed it is! Maybe not a good idea to attempt to study a manual when knackered from work eh?
I scanned the manual first time and got to 11.7 before feeling ripped off. To think I was one page away! :doh:

If only it were that simple! I'm fairly certain the seal has gone in one corner and feel water is possibly entering between the roof and the placky trim surround.

I don't have a fault at present with the air bags, merely wanted to revise more literature on the subject. The spring kit is for another rainy day or if/when the system gives trouble.

Thanks for that! Have found quite a few files that can't be opened but I'm sure there is more than enough info in that download that could prove to be invaluable.
