V6 Petrol 2004

Even in this cold weather the cooling fans come on and run very fast, make more noise than the engine.
Temperature never goes above normal, even before they start up.

Any ideas?

The fans are controlled by the engine ECU. There are several reasons for them to run.
1st would be because the AC compressor is engaged like when you select Screen Demist.
2nd would be an engine temperature above 106°C iirc.
3rd would be because the gearbox ecu is sensing a high gearbox fluid temperature.

Is yours an Auto or Manual?
Hate to be tempting fate, but look at my post about 'TD4 auto, no drive whatsoever'

This started with the fans being constantly on, and, they do run at three I think it is, speeds relevant to the computer saying what it needs.
In my case, Fuse Number 4 was the initial culprit!!
Worth a look??
