My rad fan doesn't work...
I was told by the seller that the switch was on the bottom rad pipe, and that this had 'probably' gone.
Sure enough, there is a switch and 2 wires in it (though it's damned tight and I can't undo it due to the flex in the pipes

But whilst also trying to change the temp sender (got the wrong frickin one of those too - the one I bought is much smaller and has a bullet connector instead of a spade)... anyway, I saw this on the thermostat housing...
is this also a rad temp switch?
It has 2 connections, one has a wire on it, the other has a stub of a snapped wire on it, but no sign of the rest of the wire!!

The lower switch is fitted on ac equipped vehicles, if the under bonnet temps are to high as they can be on hot days with ac running the ac fan/s cut in and run for 10 mins to cool things down, even if the engine isn't running.

ok great - I don't have ac :|
and the lower switch (which has 3 connections on it) had 2 wires on it - the upper one appears unconnected.... maybe I'll run the wires to the upper switch instead.

Fans held in position with cable ties does not indicate a competent fitment to me. Heath and Robinson come to mind.

U may find this switch having the wrong temp setting and to hot.

The temp setting for the fan to cut in should be normal running temp plus something like 5 degrees according Kenlow IIRC. That's where the Kenlow varable temp sensor comes in handy just adjust to when the gauge starts to move from is normal position so the fan cuts in.. I have a Kenlow on a classic car I own and that's how it's set and neve had an issue but if I did there's a manual override switch on the dash.

+1 on the adjustable Kenlowe - once had a cheap Chinese copy - worked fine, ebay of course.
Temp gauge - get a mechanical one, no disrespects to the build of your landy [it's much like mine] but I wouldn't trust the original wiring/gauge - at least a mechanical one will be 100% then you can fine tune the rest................. good luck
