Does anybody know how easy or hard it is to change the fan belt on a td5 disco it looks huge but is there anything i should be aware of or is it straight forward cheers

Thanks for the advice might have a go at tackling it myself gonna get a haynes manual just to be absolutely sure.

Just a 15mm spanner iirc to hold off the tensioner spring and remove the belt
Fan off is easier but not easy to do! And is a right hand thread on td5
DONT forget how the belt is routed
Fair to say it'd be a #### with the fan on.
Just draw a diagram before removal. Really is an easy job, Infact funnily enough I did one this afternoon

I thought that about the fan, that`s why I think i am going to get the Haynes manual am going to look this week for one as I am going to tackle it at the weekend, just out of curiosity how long did it take to do?
I just bought viscous fans spanners from this place.
Remove cover
Remove fan, note right hand thread. You need the second spanner with the holes to hold the casing in place whilst you slacken the bolt.
Take a note of belt routing
14mm spanner to pull tensioner towards viscous fan
Refit is reverse.
30 minutes will give enough time to put the tools away as well. In fact it'll probably take you longer to figure out the length of belt you need. There are a good few options.

i just had the one spanner for fan removal. gave it a smack with my copper hammer and came off easily.
think you`ll find the tensioner spanner is 15mm
One tip: make sure you locate the belt grooves in all the pulley grooves correctly. Off by one *will* shred the belt - I speak from experience

I did the belt on my D1, had to stand on the spanner to move the tensioner.... probably not ideal! But was really easy job other than that. As said above, make sure any grooves etc line up!
I bought mine from Halfrauds, I will see if I can find the part number but pretty sure I found it on this forum I am sure a search will bring something up
