Hi everyone

I have seen a similar thread posted a while back, however I am still confused :-(
The O/S Fairey FWH actuator just rotates, the N/S turns the expected 1/2 turn
I know that when you turn the actuator it causes a shaft with splines either in or out
Would the service kit pictured below fix the problem of the actuator? Could the white plastic strap be missing which enables me to keep turning the actuator?
If so, is the process?:
remove grub screw and washer > gently pull out the worn/missing white strap thing >
remove the FWH (I presume you have to be careful the spring etc stays in place) > remove castellated nut and soft washer > undue 6 bolts > remove hub body > clean the mating surface
Then re-fit with new bits?
Q: what are the 2 small black rods for?
Q: How do you fit the plastic strap?
Q: I f I decided to do away with the FWH is there a kit with instructions to convert back basic hub?
Many thanks for looking, any advice will be appreciated. Mart

Its not really a kit to put it back to standard its just a drive member and a few bolts, oh and a felt washer and a hub cap.........

Hi

I have just had another look and the small flat head retaining screw is missing and the circular part of the plastic strap is visible, still don't understand what this thing that looks like a cable ties does o_O. If I pull this strap out then remove the 6 bolts could I make it standard by getting the below bits?

I only do a few miles a week so would prefer it back to standard, one less thing to think about! Although I would like to find a video of how that plastic strap is refitted, surely it can't go back in the same way it comes out!

Cheers
Mart

Metric or imperial doesn't really come into it but you need to check how many splines you have on your half shaft, early ones had 10 later ones 24, its obvious when you look at it which you have got.
In addition to the above bits you listed you either need a felt washer to go under the halfshalt nut and/or an 'o' ring for the hub cap.
