These are the bulbs and holders should be T5. Holder Assy - Bulb - Genuine Land Rover at www.rimmerbros.co.uk
Here are some on Fleabay
As long as he then throws the bulbs away and buys and fits some 12 volt ones.
Soory wrong link try this one same company though !!
Are the metal prongs not the contacts ?
Try bending the contacts up a bit. The contacts go through the printed circuit board and make contact on the underside. Sort of sandwiches the board between the contacts and the plastic of the bulb holder.
They are. No contacto no worko.
Looks like I was a bit too ham fisted :-D ordered replacements so should have them thursday. Next on the list is the cv joint rubber boot thingymabob, how do I tackle this?
Thanks for your continued help, much appreciated
Mick
Take the hub off and pull the drive shaft out. Strip the CV joint re grease and fit new boot. Fit a new oil seal. Nice simple job if you know what you are doing, bastard if you don't. Choose between this Gaiter - CV Joint - Genuine Land Rover at www.rimmerbros.co.uk and this CV Gaiter P38 (Britpart) STC3203 Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order. let us know which one you went for.
the split type boots are rubbish and won't last! but the ones I advocate using are the stretch ones
Forgive me for asking, but last time I had a vehicle that failed 'cos the cv boot was leaking .. I just cut off the boot and fasteners and it passed! Told when it's on it has to be good, if it ain't there it can't be failed on!
Will have to remember that one as comical as it is. If your car has high emissions remove the exhaust system so they have nowhere to stick the test meter probe in, sounds reasonable to you does it? Maybe a problem with the check if any part of the system is missing bit though, but it won't fail emissions that's for sure. The gaiter has to be present and in good condition.
Thought it should be so .. but it happened!
On my sisters Mondeo about 5 or more years ago, we just removed the gaiter completely and it sailed through at the same test centre.
