Hi folks, helping out a mate with what looks like a snapped hand break cable on a 53 plate TD5 Discovery.
The question I have is:
Where the cable comes out of the body and in to the central consul should it have an adjuster there.

My mates td5 just has a rubber grommet, the diagrams I have seen seem to have some type of adjuster, I take it to remove slack. If that is missing is it vital? And is it replaceable? And a part number would be great.

I think the adjuster is actually not in the centre consul, its on the underside, where the cable goes through, unlike the Discovery 1.

Yes there is one underneith, it's attached to the propshaft in the drum brake. The manual, Haynes, and the exploded diagram I have both seem to show an adjuster under the central consul.

I think the original cable had the star adjustor inside the console, but mine had an aftermarket cable which had a nut underneath to adjust it. Really easy with a crows foot socket.

I have just changed on mine. The adjuster is only underneath.
Mine is a 2003MY.
