Hi all
With advice from members and reassurance from Nodge did my auto box fluid change cold measuring exactly fluid drained and relaced with the same amount did this over period of time 4 times
Have now purchased an Icarsoft1930 will this show me the temperature of the fluid
Also can anyone advise how good should the hand brake be mine is poor an if faulty most likely reason suggest what can I do to rectify

the handbrake mechanism inside the drum does seize up, and it becomes a bit digital. Nodge did his recently and there is a write up on it if you look for his posts. easy enough to do just tricky to get the drum off..

It'll be the shoes and drums worn out. Unfortunately they don't get maintained once they've left the factory.
I replaced the whole brake assembly on my SE. The parking brake will now lock the rear wheels when applied while moving.
 
I replaced my shoes and drums. All the linkages and cables free. Still it seemed rubbish but it keeps passing mot’s so I have to put it in Park to get the key out. Don’t worry as long as it passes mot’s
 
I didn't think the F2 has drum brakes.

Sure there were a couple of threads recently about the park brake on F2 being caliper type affairs.

The hand operated parking brake uses a brake drum and shoes inside the bell of the rear rotor, which is a pretty common system, used on most LRs after 2005, as well as BMW, Volvo, Ford and Vauxhall vehicles.

This system means the parking brake and rear pads are independent of each other, and unfortunately means the parking brake is often overlooked as part of the maintenance routine.

The later electric parking brake FL2 uses an electronic caliper, so doesn't have the drums in the rotor bell.

Hi Nodge stripped the rear brakes today found lots of dust and only 3mm of shoe the discs were marked only in the middle pads looked new
Cleaned all up adjusted handbrake only a bit better have decided to do as you have and replace discs pads shoes can you recommend a supplier and what brand you used the small spring was one the same face as the long one I have read it should be on the inside is this correct

I use Advanced Factors in Southampton, but delivery is prompt and not expensive.
I bought Einbach rotors, pads and shoes. AF also supply the necessary thread locking compound in the brake kits.

This is the correct way the parking brake shoes are installed.
