or anyone else who might b able to help.

We have an exhaust manifold with a crack in it and want to know if we can clean the crack out and weld it back together. It isa a cast iron fannymold.

Mentioned Redhand 'cos I know he has something to do with welding.

To weld a cast manifold requires the manifold heating to at least 300 deg and then dissimilair welding rods used with an arc welder, can be welded cold but will crack within weeks.
 
Aye tis a buggar of a job. I'd be looking for another manifold or taking it to a specialist welders or a blacksmith if ya have one local to ya.
 
Thankyou gentlemen. The blacksmith it will be. (Whn he's finished with that great big thing with four legs).
 
Problem solved. Customer is going to locate new manifold himself and bring us a different vehicle with different jobs to do on it.(Kingpins on a Metrocab).
