Iv been looking for the aforementioned product but searches on our favourite search engine only provide either internal cages, or externals for defenders or disco 2. Does anyone know of a company that sells them ?
Are they taking the ****? Bolted to aluminium bodywork?!
I mean don't get me wrong if you want a cage purely for rubbing trees etc then fine it doesn't need to be cross braced but 1. If you're not careful you'll rip it off in 10 minutes and therefore what's the point cos the idea is you don't need to be careful anymore and 2. If you're doing it you might aswell do it properly then you can roll down the hill laughing all the way to the bottom.
That really is worrying telling people it's FIA, maybe they're saying the welding is FIA spec, not the cage, and intentionally being ambiguous?
Hi sam, the company the op links to `markrace` is the guy i bought my cage from, (for folks who dont know me the 90 in the pic above) he makes cages for all kinds of race and competition vehicles and they are fia and msa aproved, the pictures on his ebay listing will be showing a cage on the jig vehicle they use to weld all the components together, the chassis mounting kits are very good, my cage mounts to the chassis in 8 different places. I priced a basic cage from my local 4x4 retailer, who i wont name, it was £1250 +vat and supplied by Markrace as it happens, this didnt include the roof cross bracing or the side bracing or the rear wrap arround. it cost me less than that for the full cage, with roof cross bars, rear diagonals, rear wrap arround, rock and tree sliders, and all the accosiated body to chassis mounts, all the bolt and fixings. all fully plasticoated. Well happy, the cage has had some right hammer and has been on its side. Cant recomend these guys enoughHang on a minute.
Whitbread are a very reputable company. That's fact.
Paul are you talking about the company in the first link? I have seen Tims cage and its great.
Now perhaps the guy on eBay somewhat foolishly didn't show any of the chassis bracing in the pic or perhaps chose not to fit it for the pics?
I have seen cages pictured like that before but there is much more work to do.
I notice the front wing has a big hole cut in it which indicates something is going on there, but it's bloody short sighted of them to not include better pics if there is much more to this cage than immediately meets the eye...
The cage in the eBay listing as is advertised or As is pictured isn't up to scratch. Doesn't matter what vehicle it's on. Jig or comp racer. He may well be able to supply the rest of the cage to make it fia spec. But as its being sold it isn't.
I'd put money on it isn't. In fact I work next door to customcages one of the biggest suppliers manufactures of roll cages in I think I'm right in sayin Europe. I'll find out the reasons why that isn't fia other than its not welded to the chassis. There's a cross missing in the roof part. And a cross diagonal through(one side to the other)
Think nene overland do a roll cage for a disco 1 remember seeing it somewhere probably not cheap though.
They buy them in from other manufacturers ... Very not cheap ...
