take the cap off and look inside towards the back, there should be an X sticking up from the bottom of the tank. The top of that is the level

You will need to lean forward a fair bit to see it, it's not directly under the cap which is pretty unhelpful!

Or up to the halfway seam around the outside any excess will get blown out via the valve in the cap.

dont use expansion bottle level as indicator of coolant in engine remove both bungs and fill too over flowing a excess will blow out cap ,ive seen so many level in tank but air in hoses and head

this may be a daft question but i havent looked yet as iv been workin on the gearbox change issue but witch bungs are these and where should they be on a 300 tdi?

iv had many a vehicle thats changed from original so i like to know how it shud be unless the mod is better of course lol

If yu still have those plastic bungs, change em for brass ones. Tons on eBay or in the for sale section.

The black plastic plugs are a nightmare, replace them with half inch std radiator blanking plugs or radiator bleed valves.
