it does seem that the only range rover experts these days are the guy's who own them!
the guys who make them, work on them day in day out aren't cutting it anymore! (with the exception of a few independents)
i used to work for Austin, Rover, Jag, Land Rover dealer years ago and there was a bonus scheme in place, if you can do more than 40 hours work in your 40 hour week then you earned so much an hour on top, some jobs where impossible to earn on as you spent most your time trying to work out the fault as opposed to actually working on a vehicle!
the sort of faults I'm reading on here recently fall into this category!
some mechanics where taking home 25 to 30 hours bonus @ up to £2.50 and hour on top of there wages a week! this was in the 80's so what it is now i don't know!
I'm guessing thats why when a very unusual fault is shown to L/R's the mechanics just change this or that straight away, no time to think cos thats not productive as far as your bonus goes!
problems with your P38,s eas hight, throw on some hight sensors!
problems with your P38,s air con, fit new hevac control unit
problems with your P38's starting, fit new battery or starter motor!
non of which are actually at fault but to find the fault don't earn bonus hours!
it all makes for a happy workforce but the customer care sucks! and for £100 an hour! good god almighty!
