Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Britpart poly bush kit for the p38 (DC7107)?

I know many people say to never put poly bushes on a rangie as it will give a harsh ride and they don't allow enough roll. I disagree strongly with the poly bush hate. Harshness depends on the Shore rating of the compound and a properly developed poly bush can be as forgiving as the standard rubber ones. But given the price of the Britpart kit it is exactly this 'properly developed' bit which I have doubts about.

So hence, anyone fitted those and found no increase in harshness of the ride?

People seem to get varied results. Preference may be a part of it but some people report improvement, some none, few have even gone full polybush only to revert to OEM because it ruined it? When replacing old worn OEM with brand new polys it’s never gonna be a fair test.
Would be interesting to see a poll get the numbers in

Cheap/britpart poly is always going to be better than worn out/broken rubber
But how long will they last?

Sorry to butt in but how do you lock suspension at motorway height as on first rangey and handbook quite knackered. On the polybush bit I have found parts that rotate more than a few degrees seem to wear polybushes rapidly even when using correct lube but very good for impact parts (shocks, roll bar etc).

Press the lock height button then with this done, press down on the rocker button and it’ll go to m/way height instead of access height. Pressing again will put you down to access height.

While the lock height switch is pressed it will remain that height indefinitely even after the engine is turned off.

many thanks for a quick answer I will try that as using the rocker switch on its own wouldn't pick motorway height although you probably knew that! I have so much to learn.
If you use just the rocker switch on its own you can only choose elevated, normal or access height. Pressing the lock ride height button first will then allow the highway ride height to be selectable.

nope all oem :)
'Tell you something I've found on my RRC (yes I know that's not a P38, but the same thinking could apply) in that tyre age can make a noticeable difference to the ride on tarmac.
My '87 Vogue, on coils obviously, has General Grabber AT tyres that are now 12 years old so the rubber has hardened & I can certainly feel any imperfection in the road surface (in Essex? surely not) much more than I used to.

Agreed the rubber should really be replaced at that age, but due to a combination of an annual sub. 1K mileage & thoughts of maybe moving the old girl on this year make me reluctant to blow £500+ :(

Unfortunately not just your tyres. The roads in the uk are simply shocking! Even the relaid surfaces aren't flat or smooth and still take longer than ever to do!!!!

They "surface dressed' a heavily used road near me last week.
Unfortunately they didn't fill in the potholes first, so even though they haven't even repainted the lines etc, it's already in holes

Worth every penny of our taxes. Really makes me proud to be working!
Retired for 21 years but still paying my taxes :(

What I can never understand is why the repairs don't last, is it shoddy workmanship or cost cutting on materials?
When the Yanks built air-bases here during WW2 they used huge machines that laid concrete runways on prepared agricultural land that were pounded daily by fully laden bombers & in pre-war Germany they built autobahns .. how come we can't effect a proper repair in the 21st century?

Cost cutting on materials and the process. Cheaper materials and the bare minimum work means it’s not a permanent solution.. but 3 years down the line it’ll be a different team in the council and won’t be their problem any more.

They can only look as far ahead as the end of their nose.
