Hi , haven't been here for over a month (record for me ) employer has moved me 10 miles further away from home so I needed to buy a corsa for daily commuting as I didn't want to kill the series , anyway my series 3 exhaust has broken where it joins front pipe to back , can I cut out joint , use item pictured, support mid section with bracket and go on my way , has anyone got any feedback re these kits , I know its easy enough to fix a new front section but if studs snap on manifold I'll be screwed and due to work move expenses I'm screwed , any advise would be great , thanks

For starters a complete exhaust isn't that expensive. If you start cutting out sections randomly you'll actually have trouble finding a fixing point to the chassis.As you say it'd have to be well supported to avoid stressing the front section. LR designed the exhaust the way it fits for good reason, messing around too much and potentially you'll have trouble. The rear pipe always goes first followed by the middle section. Personally I'd replace both sections, cost about £80.00.

I painted mine to make it last longer but I wouldnt bother again as I also have an old spray bottle (think it was ciff of jiff or something) and I spray it along with everything else every couple of months with old engine oil and white spirit. Its been on 12 months and no sign of problems. Sometimes you just cant beat an oily rag, after all a hundred years of steam train engineers cant all be wrong.

I sprayed my cheapy Britpart system with a can of Zinc paint inside as far as i could get with a extra bit of pipe on the nozzle and the total outside ! Still looks like new :)
 
my s1 went in the same place as yours neil, repaired it with a piece of flexible exhaust pipe from amazon. didn't use any extra support as that joint was not supported before.

if any where does need some support you could try stainless steel cable ties just hook two or three together round the chassis rail

I chose to repair for much the same reason, the manifold end bolts don't look like the would come undone. also I don't think the exhaust is the right one and when it does go I hope to get a custom ss job that routes the way I would like it to

I've bought this , I will eventually repair whole system , however these have got good reviews and I'm skint , support is reusable so I'm hoping for the best , all I need to do is measure part I need to cut out correctly so I'll need to take care with that

Could anyone please tell me the diameter of the centre exhaust , Its standard , I'd need to cut it to measure it and then order so I'd be without Landy for a week , any help would be appreciated , thanks

one and three quarter inches, it was for my 2.0l series 1 petrol, I guess measured with a ruler, as mine is a series 1 it might not be the same size though and as said I am not sure it is a "proper" land rover exhaust, so I would do a rough measurement first
