Hey guys
Having bother removing my exhaust on my 1999 freelander diesel. Can't seem to get the back end of the bolts removed from the flange - tried drilling them out and hitting them with a mallet!!!!

They feel welded in - apart from burning the things out - which I would do if I had the gear!!! - anyone any ideas on how I can get them out???

Cheers

Pete

Are they the bolts that bolt through to the catalytic converter?

If so, i had to angle grind mine out. They were well and truly rusted up.

Yeah mate - its the bolts that go thru the flange on the converter side. Tried to angle grind them but its the bit of the bolt thats in the hole that I can't get out.

Any ideas? I was thinking maybe I should grind the bolts from the converter side?

take the cat off as well in one piece ..drop it down onto the deck if you cant remove it off there completely ....cut bolt heads and nuts off flush to the flanges on both sides put a steel wedge between the flanges and drift apart .......then remove the cat from under the truck put in vice and drift out whats left of the threads in the flange with an old extention bar from a socket set ...................................

Angle grinder worked for me too!!

Just be careful of your clothing - looked up to see my fleece on fire
