Hi all,
Just a bit of advice really,Im going to view an R plate 300TDI tomorrow,& from what I've been told over the phone it sounds worth looking at.Can anyone give me a few pointers to look out for, other than the usual, bulkhead, footwells, chassis etc to cast an eye over, its my first land rover so don't really want to be buying a money pit!..Ive been to a few places over the last few months trying to find a good ex MOD 2.5NA, including Withams,Blanchards, etc but this has came up & thought it might be a better option.Any advice would be sound advice taken.Cheers.

Go see it in the rain...best way to find out where it is leaking and so where there may be issues of rust in footwell/doors etc!

Interesting..... the only MOD 300Tdi is the Wolf, but they're much higher priced than the older naturally-aspirated diesels (thing they start about the £6k mark). Look for a spare wheel mounted on the passenger's side rear body panel and a protruding vent on the side of the front wing - the older N/A diesels had niether.

Might be worth making sure this isn't a 2.5 N/A that's been converted to 300Tdi..... that wouldn't make it a no-go, but you'd want to know who did the conversion and how well.

Good luck!!

Take a close look at the chassi it will have been up rated to be a wolf a metal plate between the front seats which houses the egr ecu on the front check for gearbox rad and engine oil cooler disk brakes on the rear axle there are many more things to look for but these are the easy ones good luck if in dout ask for the sale docs when it was releast or contact the rlc museum in deep cut and get its chassis num checked

I am pretty sure the RAF took civi models too...I think you might find it is very stock and not based on a wolf chassis with all the wolf extras...

Wolf landys are starting to come through in greater numbers now, most of them that came through approx 18 months ago where crash or bomb damaged and where completely rebuilt by the military enthusiasts. As such they commanded a high price in the region of £12k + but now as they are becoming slightly easier to get hold of there price is slightly more reasonable !

Might be worth taking a look at ex- military land rover site index there will be Some good information there for you I reckon !

Cheers

Not so fast ............ Check out what you are saying........... Lots of ex Mod 90's and 110's with 300tdi in them. Used in none combat areas. And a few very few TD5 starting to show. Lots of 300tdi used for the officers cars, medics, and Military police. So just because it is 300tdi does not mean it is a wolf, u barking up the wrong tree there :)

Where did you go If you don't mind telling. And how were the prices?

Marple Road Garage, stockport.I thought the prices were reasonable for the standard & maintenance carried out on the vehicles in stock or waiting to be dispatched :)
