Since purchasing the landy the screen washers have never worked properly, and i have always had to convince the MOT tester that they work (last year i checked some water on the screen while he was at the other end of the garage getting a light, and then when he came back told him i had fixed it as the wipers were wiping it off!)

Anyway eventually decied after a few years of carring a bottle of water around with me, and spraying it out of the window, to find out what was wrong.

I odered a new pump from my lcoal dealers, removed the headlight to get to the pump, and in there found three pumps (I dont have a rear washer!).

There was the one that goes through the side of the tank(not working, but bunged up with crud), and then two other inline ones all connected together in a chain! Looks like the previous owner was having problems with pressure as well, so decided to fit three pumps to try and get it working.

Finaly tracked it down to the cover over the wiper motor squasing the hoze as it was not in the recess properly, and a kink under the ash tray.

Then removed the two inline pumps, tried to fit the new pump i ordered (it was the wrong one), then went to halfords and got one of theres, and now were working.

Was just wondering what other bodges others had found from previous owners!

Also - if anybody needs a perfectly good inline pumps!
 
Well I thought I'd tackle a simple job today - replacing the lock barrel in the rear door lock. I took off the door trim, undid the bolts holding the lock to the door, and... the whole thing fell to pieces all over my drive.

One of the many previous owners had decided to "have a look inside" to see why it wasn't locking properly and had drilled off the rivets holding it together. They'd failed to fix it, and had just cobbled it back together so that they could bolt it back onto the door.

I eventually got it back together in the same state that it started - it's obvious that a new barrel on it's own isn't going to fix the problem. Anyone got a rear door lock going spare?

My disco was a bit like that, once youv`e worked your way through there boges you normaly wind up with a good motor, just hope they havent been at anything major!!! good luck:car:
 
They were my mole grips. Was a temp bodge because I'd lost the bolts and needed to move the car across the yard. Would have been easier to push it in hindsight but being young and dumb it seemed like a good idea at the time. It worked as well.

Mines been rewired by a cretin - super mechanical rebuild but I think they used two looms, worst bit is that they cut the connectors off the main loom and head/side/indicator looms off, and soldered and taped the wires - I reckon they used a fag lighter as the solder has not flowed properly. Other wires are just twisted together and taped.

I'm slowly finding the bodges as they fail though!
 
Everything i have had to do to my 110 so far has been caused by bodges by a previous owner.

Wheel bearings, shocks had no bushes at the axle end, electrics taped together, speedo cable, viscous fan - the list goes on. Just wondering what will go wrong next

Its a real shame because in 2004/2005 somebody rebuilt the whole vehicle from the ground up (i got the photo rebuild with the vehicle history) and sprayed it lovely metallic blue. Between then and when I bought it, somebody hand painted it black and abused the hell out of it.

I´m glad I´m not alone! I keep finding odd bits of wire coming out of splices into the loom - some of them do go somewhere (although I haven´t worked out where!) whilst others are just left hanging...

Today I discovered that the steering lock has been removed at some point, and put back on with a couple of ordinary old bolts. That´s really gonna slow a tea-leaf down !
 
to be honnest it wouldn't matter as you can just smash a flat blade in and turn it and it'll release the lock
