I got hold of an ex mod 109 the other week and have just got round to lifting the bonnet.....
When I took the dist. cap off instead of points there is a plastic gadget with 2 wires coming from it - red and black. As it has no coil at the moment am I right in thinking the red would go to the neg. side of the coil and the black to earth ?
Also with this type of electronic points set up is there supposed to be a condenser or not, I would guess not but want to be sure and get it right so when it doesn't start I can rule that out:)
Thanks

Something to do with resistance. Coils that are fitted with or connected to ballast resisters will eventually burn out the ignition module..apparently. When I changed from points to electronic, I didn't know what type of coil I had so I just bought the recommended one.

shouldn't it have an amplifier as well in a diagram I have of a lucas 35dm8 both wires from distributer go to ampflier and coil wires go to it as well

Just did a quick search and seems that britpart modules are designed to marry with existing coil setup, so without knowing the make of it I shall be hoping it came from a blue box and all will be tickety boo.........

I got this out of a v8 engine tuning manual but any manual for a range rover with a distributer should have this I would post it on internet but don't mknow how to do it silly old coot!!!

I think V8's are a different kettle of fish, after a quick shufty at paddocks it sounds like the electronic dizzy is a straight swap........here's hoping they're right

Ok so along with above said info at paddocks they also have fitting instructions..... along the lines that red to +ve on coil and black to -ve on coil, so completely wrong there.
