On the verge of buying an ex MOD 110 - but I've just learned they don't have PAS. Is that going to be an issue? Anyone have experience of driving an ex MOD landy? All my previous vehicles have had power assisted stearing - as far as I remember. My first one was a series 111 - would that have had PAS? TIA!

Series 3 wouldn't have had pas unless retro fitted. If that was ok you shouldn't have a problem.
But given the turning circle of the 110, you will be doing lots of sawing at the wheel so I hope you're hitting the gym in advance.

Driving a landy without PAS is doable else they woul'nt make em, Once you've had it six months and beafed up a bit it will be good to boast you drive a mans motor:bounce:

man up..... neighbours used to have an ex leccy board series 3 with a pto winch on the front bumper... that were noticably heavy on the steering but we just lived with it.

I had an Ex-Mil 90 for about 18 months....the lack of PAS and the 2.5 NAD engine make any task hard work...

just moving cars round on our street onto a very steep drive was a real tiring task especially after having shoulder surgery a few years ago...

that said though there was nothing better when trundling down the road or attending military fairs etc....and it was excellent off road on the greenlanes too as long as there was no intricate manouvours.

i cursed it often...but i miss it too !

They are a pain in the goolies but after a while you don't notice it. plus as mentioned they do give your arms a work out :)

Ex 1DWR :)

My series 3 has no PAS and I have never found it a problem. Even when I first got it, yes it's heavy but nothing ridiculous.

I'm getting it from Rugged Guide - so I have to trust them to get me a good one! I'm sure they will.

Would be interested to hear how you get on once you have it - i have been itching to buy one for ages but many people bemoaning the slow pace of the N/A engine worries me more than the PAS. I would buy a V8 because I dont do many miles but they are like hens teeth!

I'll certainly keep you updated. I've decided to go for NATO green - I know some think it's boring but I like it. I'm buying from Rugged Guide as I'm no mechanic so DIY is not an option for me.

:bounce: After you've had it a while and find out you think its ace .you can always find someone to carry out an engine swop, TDI or V8

If you have a landy specialist local then ask about pas being retro fitted. It cant be that hard as nothing on landys are
