This tool reads the engine and air bag but not the abs any ideas why please ?

I guess its a generic OBD2 reader and will read only the standard codes.

Landrover have additional codes that are encrypted and can only be read by specialised (i.e. more expensive) readers like Rovacom, Nanocom, Hawkeye etc.

have you looked in the LZ rescue board - they list people by area who have this sort of thing...
