i am crossing my fingers....... but not holding my breath.......

Started looking, at the next Wales trip tonight, just looking at the lanes in the North at the mo.....

Hope you get sorted soon.
If not try britcar they are open Saturday morning and maybe even tomorrow, but phone first.

What happened Nick - anything serious?

I left some of front grill and one of the bumper caps floating somewhere down violets lane.

James (ford ranger I think) lost a fog light

Jonny, not sure really he had three runs down violets lane and very quickly developed some nasty noises. Pulled over and couldn't find anything (like I know what I'm looking at, lol), but when he took out his wading plugs both were covered in sh#t ?????

After than jonny headed home. Not sure if he got there under his own power or courtesy of the RAC?

Only took a few photos, will post up once the missis has finished on the computer.

Hope you all had go day today, sorry I couldn't make it , not done violets in donkeys how deep was it?
Johny hope alls ok

ok so, long and the short of it, looks like there was some serious ingression of sandy water from the flywheel back...

so:

Clutch / Flywheel - can't tell until the transmission is off, but given the fact that the wading plug was packed full of fine sand when i removed it, and given the slapping chattering noise it was making and the clutch pull away judder it developed i would say at the very least clutch release bearing and clutch plate gone

transmission: - oil came out fairly clean, some swarf on the magnetic plug (last changed around 10,000 miles ago), could be ok but simply can't tell without taking the box off and checking

transfer box: f*cked. pulled the magnetic plug out and it looked like a chistmas tree, not just with fine particles but slivers and chunks of steel attached so looks like that has failed.

i did get home under my own steam, drained the oil out and checked plugs etc. I was going to flush it through with some ATF and then change the oils but given the state of the plugs and the noise the clutch was making i just didnt think there was much point in spending £50+ on some oils for flushing, and then a fresh change when it might need some far more serious TLC

Long story short, it may well be a trip to ashcrofts for a new clutch, gear box and transfer box. Joy....

failing that i'll (somehow) drop the box off myself and see what the damage is, maybe try pick up a new box of flea bay.

aside from that, good day!!

A few sections still have water and I think they have become a bit rutted so it seems deeper than it would normally be.
Will make it interesting if ever we get any significant rain.

Sorry to hear that Jonny.
Sounds like a lot of work and expense and a lot worse than I thought it would be.

Glad you got back safely and when you make a start, keep us posted on how your getting on. I spend a lot of time driving around East Anglia so if you need anything picked up, just let me know.

I took a photo of you coming out of the last puddle on voilets and a few when we parked up.
