He kept the engine it came with. 2.2 petrol I think. Runs really well, sits at about 55 mph

Keep it standard mate you'll love it, I loved my Series 3 109 safri wish I had never sold it......:(

My Dad has been saying the same. Will have to see.

All being well should get her home at the weekend. So i'll see if i can get her running. If I do I have access to a field which I can take her for a gentle drive round.
Stu, was your 109 a 2 1/4? I need to do some reading up on if these are ok on unleaded? its a 1963

You'll be wanting a fuel additive or some 4 star from certain forecourts.

I've got some friends popping over Thursday evening, so going for a few hours laning.
Will be leaving mine @ 19:15 so can be in Braintree for 20:00.

Anyone one else what to join us. Havent been laning for an age!
I'm happy to sort the route, my iPad now has MM running correctly

As matt said definately put a decent lead replacement fuel additive in it, unless you have documented proof that it either has had hardened valve seats cut into the head or a replacement unleaded head (which is not that uncommon the series 3 at our workshop has had a unleaded head fitted before we got it).

If not and the lead has worn off the valves which takes some time after not using unleaded the valves will start to eat the valve seats.

it takes years ,and by the time you notice ,just get seats on exhaust fitted ,not worth buying additive as cost will eventually pay for cost of 4 seats and valves

Finally put all my photos and video clips together for my visit to the lakes.
Cumbria Laning - YouTube

Now need to finish the one for our Wales trip, but thats an epic task. Over 2 hours of video and it must be a 1000+ photos If i include those from the online album.

It was the 2.6 Petrol, stright six, with emision control for the US market, sounded nice after I removed the emmision control..... Brillant White with Green tinted glass, free wheeling hubs. it was T reg and I brought it in 1988 I think it was.

I roled it in 1991 if i remmeber right, In brightlingsea of all places, never was the same after that, so floged it......

Ya bright yellow 'nana!!

I mean our lanes in comparison to other counties :)

I'm a slow learner when it comes to iMovie, was frustrating the hell out of me.

Anyway, I love our local lanes wouldn't swap them for those rocky, mountainous ones with beautiful views.

hey im in colchester, defo interested in green laning or even a 4x4 course, whens the next meet?

Have you looked into Bures pit or Essex off road? 2 courses close to colchester that are pretty decent places to go...

There aren't many lanes close to colchester but there are loads going up to chelmsford way and above... Dont know when the next trip is but im willing to go one evening/weekend soon...

Another video to make our lanes just look **** :D

I know that feeling,

I am still thinking about a long weekend, maybe 5 nights, North Wales to South Wales using as many Green Lanes as Possible, Wild Camping and living out the back of the Landy in September Time.
