It's a bit out of the way so if anyone wants to meet me somewhere and follow me up that might be best.

If I come i'll bring:

farm jack
big axle stands
Floor light
Probably a collection of hand tools, maybe some air tools as well.

Geoff, you got to come, no doubt you'll need something doing to your landy by then, the rest of us in the group have.

Any way you cant turn down tea and biccys...I could even look at your MM for ya as well.

Yeah will try and make it, did say i did'nt need anything doing knew i should have kept my gob shut, i now have some kind of clatter/knocking. its not the engine will have a look tomorrow see if anything obvious.

So where are we meeting? Need to know coz if it is too far then I can't go.

Brian said on one the previous posts that its close to Sudbury - Google map it, I'm sure the workshop will be close enough to Sudbury to workout your timings / distance.

Dancing Girls?
Its going to be a busy day. Have you seen my todo list? I don't need distractions.
I hope these girls know how to use a tool.

Decat and blank off the EGR, also think about cleaning out the intercooler and intake manifold :)

I've recently de-EGR'd and whilst at it cleaned the intercooler (overnight sock in white spirt). Hopefully the De-Cat will help.
Everything I have read suggests the lift pumps deteriorate slowly over a period of time and normally the affect on performance is slow and as a result not noticeable.
The previous owner has kept every receipt for the last 12 years and I can't find any mention of it ever? It now has 173K on the clock. See how it goes on the day, is it an easy item to replace?

PS - glad to here your truck is on the mend!

Looking forward to the 20th, I've got a OS map for braintree and sudbury. I'll bring it with me in case of any spare time afterwards - unlikely looking that the to do lists!

I know that SLROC have maintances day's for members from time to time, but dont think any booked at mo.

Ah, I think you've probably got the wrong idea about SLROC maintenance days.
The maintenance taking place is not to do with members vehicles but the upkeep of the site and courses at Newbourne. We encourage our members to put right the mess they make with their nasty uber-aggresive tyres

Is there a tyre changing machine there just out of interest? Got a few tranny wheels the other day and only want the tyres.

TYres are easy to change without a machine.
I de-rimmed 20 the other day just using a sledge hammer, a small piece of 2" angle and a couple of tyre levers.
Piece of pee-pee!

I've done them.... just like that ;)

Just thought I'd ask to save me getting the biggggggggg hammer out

Lift pump is a piece of **** to change.

New ones are cheap as well.

i have a pretty major oil leak coming from the vac pump area, is it just a case of replacing the gasket/seal?

dont suppose anyone local to Basildon has a large breaker bar or scaffold pole i could borrow this weekend? need to get the bottom pully bolt undone and the only breaker bar i have is a 18" one.

Got back from work and noticed a big dark spot under the Disco, it hasn't been used since Monday

Checked under the bonnet and the nearside of the block (towards the front) is wet? and coolant looking liquid drip on the steering rod.

99.9% certain it is coolant.

I'm away for the weekend (wedding) and working all next week:doh:

Fooking thing:mad2:

Sounds like a gasket, it's known as the P gasket I think.

Another job on the list then.

Hi guys hope its going well.. no spam here honest :eek: I'm thinking of getting a big box of these ropes from CharlesY so I can hand a few round at cost price which should be just 1 or 2 quid each.. The bigger the box the better value, so if you would like any ropes for almost nothing at all or know anyone who would please get in touch as I'm trying to work out just how many to get.

I have some HUNDREDS of 15 foot lengths of polypropylene three strand ropes that measure about 90mm around using a tape.

I carry several in the Disco, usually two 15 footers and one double-length job.

I splice small eyes on both ends, and use a D-Shackle on the victim end, just dropping the eye over my tow-ball.

I will part with these ropes for £1 each plus post.

If anyone wants to organise something, I could send a huge box down full of them.

CharlesY
