My 2000 RR HSE died!! Coming to a stop idle speed droped once again but this time it did not recover I'm glad it started again at the first try. Before this event usualy when I come to a red light idle controlers make some adjustments dropping engine rpm almost to zero but then it recovers an keeps running smooth this time it jusd died. Any Ideas? I have cleaned the Air Mass sensor and IAC Valve ...Could it be the throttle Position sensor?

I think all you have done is masked the problem by tightening the throttle cable. The tickover on an engine as new as this with all the sensors and stuff should look after itself, if its not , there is a problem somewhere, where, I cant tell you because I am not that clever, but I am sure someone will know.

Currently having same problem with a 2001 4.0v8
No idea what problem is but replaced idle air control valve with no success and mass air flow meter again with no success, and the engine coolant sensor. We are currently looking at the purge valve solenoid to check if it if functioning correctly. Anyone any ideas?
