Could one of you more experienced chaps and chapeses shed some light. How can I stop the leak?!! Location is behind the off side front wheel.

by changing all the seals in the steering box!!

or try the brake fluid trick, it worked for about 6 months for me, then i bought the seal kit and some lucas stop leak- guess which one i used first??

clue is the seal kit is still in the cubby

This is what i use in mine

and it has slowed the leak right down and sorted out the steering a treat lovely and smooth now, no tight spots.

it is only a temporary fix for me as i will get round to it this summer, honest.

before i used the lucas stuff i was going through about 500ml of fluid a week now a bottle of that stuff lasts me about 8 months.

Yes it's a leak of the power steering fluid, most likely caused by a seal failing after holding the steering on full lock for too long.

I had a similar leak recently (3 months ago). I used Wynns PAS stop leak and it has worked so far. It took about 4 days to work fully so give it some time before you give in.

I'd certainly go for sealing tricks first and leave doing the box seals till the summer!

Removing the drop arm is a bar steward and I ended up paying the garage a tenner to get it off, after trying pullers, heat, violence, etc. Having got it off I couldn't get the ball joint top cone out as it was so corroded so I ended up with a new drop arm (EBay - 99p!) and so I could have used plan B (the angle grinder) and saved the tenner.

Good luck!
