Hi one and all, quick question i have a 110 defender 200 tdi that i am rebulding and was wondering which is better to put in the diffs ( rear sailsbury) and transfer box? EP 80 OR 90? I will be using the vehicle for a trip to beijing and back next april.

i see it has a gl5 rating, i thought that ate away at all the brass bits in your transfer box?

yes
GL4 is OK for both.
GL5 is OK for diffs, but not T/F box.

so did I for a year - changed it now.
doesn't seem to have done any harm.

PHEW!!!! Ah'd better get round tae changin' it soon then... only went in a month or so back when ah changed the gear and transfer boxes.

mm bought some ep 80 today from my local landrover garage and it was £48 for 25 lts but was gl4, might take it back tomorrow and get the ep90 instead.
