HI

ive got a 1997 P38 Range rover, due to a power failure the radio has reset & requires a code. I got the radio code (and the engine code) from a main dealer but i dont know how to enter the code on the radio.

Its a tape head unit with a cd changer.
On the first try it said "code" & i put in the numbers but nothing happpned they just stayed on screen. I took the power on & off, now it just displays 4 dashes.
Ive tried presseing the "band" & "man" buttons but nothing happens.

Is there any one out there with a radio manual that can talk me through this????

with thanks

the dashes mean it is in wait mode, like if you've put a wrong number in, you'll have to leave it switched on for about 1 min, then it will say "code" again. If you get it wrong again or disconnect half way through, the wait time is extended. i.e. 1 min, 2 min, 4 min, 8 min 16 min etc.

It depends what radio you have to how you enter the code.

you can either:-

use buttons 1 to 4 to enter the code i.e. 1 to enter first digit, 2 to enter second and so on, then press the right side of the tuning button to accept the code.

or,

when "code" is displayed, press 1, then use the tuning button to select the digit, press 1 again, use tuning button to enter second digit, do this till you've entered all the code then press 1 again to accept the code.

Thanks clutch dust
however, i can get the code to come up on the display just dont know what to do from there.
On powering the radio back up it displayed "code in". I put the code in using the 1-6 buttons & the code now just sits on the display.
I've tried pressing the band button, tried band & man together, tried holding them down for 20 secs , but nothing seems to make the code enter.
I tried unplugging the radio but that left it with "----" on the display which is safe mode & took 1 hour with the ignition on to get it back to the code in point.

Theres got to be a simple way - does any one out there know it?

got this off another site

To force the radio to let you enter a code, hold down the BND and MAN button on your stereo for 2 seconds.

If you entered the wrong code, and that (wrong) code is still displayed, REMOVE AND REPLACE FUSE F1 (fuse panel on front passgr seat), then turn the key to the ON position, and power the radio. You should see horizontal lines displayed in the radio. Then, hold down the BND and MAN (very small-located in the midle of up & down arrows)for 2 seconds.

Im gonna try it tonight as SOON as I get in ..... need music!

HI

thanks but Itried that one, the radio still powered up with the fuse out, but tried it, got the horizontal lines "----", pressed band & man but to no avail- let me know if you get it to work & ill try it again.
HAd to leave ignition on for an hour just to get the radio back to "code in"

So if the code stays on the display does that mean its the wrong code? if so how do you clear it to enter the right code?
after entering the code are you supposed to press anything to get it to accept?

Need music!!:D

bingo...... we have music. followed the instructions to the T and it started straight away take fuse F1 out while ignition off, then replace, then turno on ignition, you will see 4 lines .. then press bnd and man (in between up/down buttons and CODE IN will appear, pop in the numbers and hey presto ......... MUSIC maestro .......

Ok having got back from holiday i'm now still without music

I decided that my code is wrong & have now got code software - any one who needs a code contact me-
but im still stuck with the 4 dashes, band n man being pushed makes no difference, even tried pulling the f1 fuse

any one any new ideas???
