er..welcome! Time to read the ¨crock of ****» thread - what to do if you've bought a lemon. Should help to get it fixed or your money back, especially from a garage.

hi all,
thanks for all your lovely remarks lol think i sorted the problem, no oil in engine
there was just a covering in the sump when i done a oil changed this morning.checked plugs and they were covered in black oil so think i have sorted it out cheers steve

thanks dont know why there was no oil in it when i purchase it on good friday from private seller sold as seen so thought i got a good bargain until i got home and found all these small problems only thing i am concerned about now is the engine heats up fairly quickly but stays at half way level and does,nt move, which is good but being the 1.8i rover engine am a bit worried as i know these engines are phrone to failure is there anything i can do so it does,nt fail many thanks steve

All freelanders heat up quickly, its the way the cooling system is designed. Just keep a close eye on the level in the expansion tank.
