Many thanks to all for your help & sorry I not been back, I have been unwell for a time.
I'm thinking of selling the Rangie now apart from the current issue its all in pretty good order with only 66800 on the clock, anyone interested?

For sale section.

I'd go back to the start of this thread though and check off each suggestion in turn. Might even be worth making a summary of the engine and year and what you tested and what the result was each time.

My thought is cam~crank sensor as I recently had the same issue but if you say you have had a new one fitted recently maybe a dodgy sensor, i will read the rest of the posts.

Looked back at the start of the thread, and if it's a GEMS and is cranking, then it's not an EKA/BECM/Immobiliser issue. If it was any of that, then it wouldn't crank.

About the only sensor that will stop the engine from starting is the crank sensor as it uses that for timing... cam sensors don't usually fail, but can get oil/crud in the connector, but shouldn't stop it from starting - though may cause bad running when it is started.

I agree though, might be worth putting in a quick list of what the current status is and what has been done up to this point...
