Hi everyone I’m wondering if anyone could possibly help me. Bought a 2012 discovery 4, 6 months ago. 100k miles on the clock and recently had a new timing belt and mass air flow sensor fixed. Fast forward to now, I keep getting an engine system fault. Car goes limp and is hard work for it to pull off, although after that seems relatively fine. 9 times out of 10, if I restart the car, the fault clears and I can drive normally. But this week it’s been happening every day, numerous times. It’s being looked at finally on Saturday, but just wanted to see if anyone had had this issue before, or could shine a light on what it could possibly be?

also, this may be related or it may not, since I’ve been getting the engine system fault, car won’t shift into sport mode.

thanks in advance for anyone’s help

You need to know the logged fault code associated to that message cos it can be many things, without that it's just a guessing game

I totally agree. As for an educated guess; If the MAF sensor has been replaced because it was showing a fault code I would assume in the first place it was working ok and was registering a fault because it was doing what it is supposed to do. I would be looking for an intake air leak in all the hoses and intercooler downstream from the MAF sensor.
