I’ve got a 1988 csw with a 200 tdi in will a 300 tdi go straight in or will the engine mounts have to be altered.atb Ed

Change engine mounts, engine loom(different ends)different floor pans & tunnel.
Few other things but it’s easy….

Genuine Q?, why change from a 200tdi to a 300tdi? The two engines are near identical and there's less to go wrong with a 200Tdi. If your 200Tdi is knackered just rebuild it. Get a Turner Engineering gas flowed head, tweak a few other bits and you get 125-130bhp straight out of the box with an engine that will last 200k+ miles. If it's difference in noise levels, the 200tdi is slightly noisier, just Dynomat under the bonnet, the bulkhead, footwells, floor and doors. You'll be amazed at how quiet they can be and you'll have a smart engine bay to boot...

Wont you only need the floor pans and tunnel if you are also changing to anr380 box? If you mate the engine to the current lt77 don't you just need engine mounts?

The 300 tdi comes with automatic box

I'm not sure, wouldn't there need to be a bit more power/torque for a slush box? I'm thinking a V8 or an M57 type engine.

Maybe, but they are not a fast car as such so a nice easy drive would be lovely, reasonable to run/fuel/maintain.
90 is a couple of hundred kilos lighter than a 200 disco, maybe more if disco is high spec version, so power might be adequate, not sure on 110 weight though.

I have always thought a 200/300 auto in a 90/110 would be a nice car.

It does.

Converted my 300TDi 90 to auto in 2016 and it is a delight to drive.
Nippy & relaxing all in one, I still haven't come across a situation where I wish I was back with a manual.
