Just had a new fuel injector pump fitted after the old one developed a problem with the valve and my p38 2.5 dt lost serious power. Well, after its been fitted the injector light is coming on intermittently and still losing power. The code reader now says its 'engine stop'. Any idea what is causing this?

I've already had the 4th injector checked(one with the wire) and that's working fine......

Maybe you have just been shafted and it didn't actually need a new FIP:eek:
What code reader are you using? There is an engine stop valve in the FIP, check the wiring, otherwise look at the CPS and fueling on live data. Loss of power can also be caused by a duff in tank pump or a blocked filter. If your car has an EGR, also worth checking that is not stuck open.

Test for in tank pump, remove the fuel filter located on the passenger side of the engine bay

place a bowl under the filter head, now remove relay 12 from the fuse box and run a cable from the battery poss terminal to the one pin that sits the other way to the rest.

(key in ignition turned to position 2)

Any fuel in the bowl???

What diag are you using? Check connection to stop solenoid. Stop solenoid is either off or on, there is no in between, it cannot cause loss of power the engine will either run or it won't if that fails. Stop solenoid is not used to stop engine as some may think. Fuel quantity solenoid stops engine by reducing flow to zero. Stop solenoid is only a backup for if there is a quantity solenoid malfunction to stop a run away. Number four injector fault will reduce fuelling giving loss of power. Get some proper diag on it.

If your light is comming on I bet its the injector 4 or cps as far as I'm aware they are the only units that activate the engine management light.

Locations seem to be missing from all postees, If someone's local then help is available.

Thanks, the car was in Manchester, I was confident it was the pump in the tank as I couldn't see any fuel in the clear pipe from filter to FIP and the filter was new. I removed relay 12 and bridged a live to the terminal facing the other way, and no fuel :-/

went home to St Helens for the weekend and bought all the bits I would need and took what tools I could carry and changed the pump, bridged the terminal again, fuel came through the clear pipe within seconds and few cranks and the engine started up. Checked for leaks and it's all good :)
