Hi

I am relatively inexperienced with the forum so best start here.

I picked up a fairly low cost 99 Freelander with L series Diesel. Known issues were the three warning lights, corroded brake pipes, poor cold start and no power steering.

I intend to use the Freelander to tow a friends boat down to the coast during the summer so as its got around 130,000 miles on the clock I was going to replace the clutch and carry our some periodic servicing.

I am going to drop the front subframe complete and remove the engine to replace the clutch. While the engine was out, I was intending to remove the head have it checked and new valve guide seals fitted, check over the bottom end, replace the belts, tensioners and water pump etc and also some of the sensors as the connections seem a little corroded and they are far easier to access when the engine is out.

What sensors are fitted to the l series, from what I deduce, there is a coolant temp sensor and an oil temp sensor are there any others such as oil pressure, coolant temp electric fan switch etc. These seem relatively low cost and refurbing the engine seems daft not to replace these.

Thanks in advance.
