That's what I thought until he said it hadn't been serviced
Whole thing is very fishy and I for one could not afford to splash that amount of cash, have that happen and then not go ape at the company that made the car. Read up on the consumer protection act before doing anything rash.

Mine was 25k overdue according to the dash when I bought it but at 100k it had a fair few prior.
I'd still expect it to last past 24K but maybe there are other factors involved that the OP isn't saying.

Wife's Pluriel we bought at about 10 years old. Had only had one service but then only had 12k miles on the clock.
so I looked it up, first at 16 k or one year, then 2 years of 32k and so on.
Next door has just come back for "some" turbo pipe as a recall.
Of course they will be helpful, they will most likely sell it 3× what they give you for it!
What is their offer?
You need to discuss with LandRover, of course they need to see the vehicle first.
Who has inspected it in the first instance and what did the written report say.
