I am losing the will to live with my Td5, had it 12 years, now it revs up more and more often, changing from 750 rpm, which is about right to 1200-rpm, strangest thing ever sometimes when parking, handbrake on it drops back down, starting to dislike my old car, anyone had this before.

If it's a manual g/box it might be the clutch switch, which should not cause the revs to rise when changing gear.

Handbrake thing suggests a bad earth

Thanks for the reply not had site access for a while, getting worse, juddering back and forward from tickover to about 1200 a real pain, what is the throttle control, could it be faulty ???
