Cant see why not matt.You will be removing the transmission and ird oil before you start.The way you intend doing it seems the easiest way to go about it.
I had to whip my subframe off to remove my engine and that was just the engine with the gearbox and ird removed.Can't remember what order or when the subframe came out but the beans book recommended it.
The rear mount is the only part of the engine that is held onto the subframe. Subframe also holds the anti roll bar. The shafts are **** easy to remove once the subframe is off. Engine will be out tomorrow.
