I have recently noticed that the car starts to race when its idle or just when coming down the gear on approach to a junction. The only way to stop it is to press the accelerator and it all calms down again. Seems to be happening more frequently over last few weeks. On top of that today the amber hill descent light came on and has stayed on. No other warning lights are on and turning on and off has not resolved it. Any ideas?
many thanks.

Does it run on when you turn the engine off?

Check that you are not losing oil into the intake manifold from your turbo, as that could cause your engine to run away and blow!
