Hi - still looking for a suitable engine for my 1989 90... Could anyone confirm what engine this is?

I'm new to Land Rover and keep chasing discovery Tdis when I'm really after a defender engine for ease of transplant. Many thanks - Clank

thats a defender 200tdi engine, you can tell by where the alternator is, on the disco its on the top of the engine, also the disco has a shiney silver thing next to the rocker cover, all to do with the air intake ;)

Genius! If you're sure the next question for ten is much harder - how old and will it fit an lt77 box????

Ask professor SLOB!

cos he knows everyfing;)

but he might want a prize:rolleyes:

The Disco engines are certainly less expensive but the turbo and exhaust modifications along with oil, intercooler and power steering hydraulics tweeks push the price up and it soon seems to make more sense to pay more for a defender engine... or so I've come to the conclusion! bound to make a huge oversite though and end up in a mess! clank

the 200tdi is usually coupled to an lt77 anyway, so as long as you have the right bell housing it will fit straight on, it aint just le slobbe thats a proffessor yer know ;)

I've never entertained forums - I can now see how great they are! Does anybody know anything about wives? I've got a late 71 that's not particularly happy at the moment!

aye they get like that, i find it best to fook orf down the garage till she falls asleep ;)

It's going on an Lt77 in an 1989 90td - what else will I need assuming the bell housing matches. A new clutch is obviously going to be wise whilst the engine is out but are there any hidden necessary conversions that will cost me an arm a leg and my wife?

Trade in a landy... lol... nono wives get traded in round here.

A wife I will cost more than a landy.

NEVER let them at your money, its yours, they get what they need... grrr
