Hi guys

i own a TD4 2.0 2005 three door. It has been running lovely, but recently it has started doing this.... Its starts up, runs for a few seconds and dies. it will then start again (by me) and fire up and work fine, sometimes like today it done this three times.

When it does this i cannot press the throttle at all, so i cant give it some welly to help it start (not that i want to).

Any help would be greatly appreciaed, cos i love my little landy.....

In addition to the above it might be worth chcking the crankshaft sensor, although it if it's getting much over 450 rpm before dieing then it's probably not that.

Listen for the sound of the rear fuel pump whirring when you put the key to Pos II. Mine went kaput around about this mileage! Its fitted in the OSR wheel arch and a filter sits between it and the tank. Change both!

I have this exact same problem on my 2006 96k Freelander. It is so frustrating as the car drives like a dream (once it's started!). Likewise the throttle is non responsive to rev, but I have found that by turning the key to engage the starter just before the engine cuts completely will, most of the time, recover the fade and start. However this is working less and less (not to mention that it's going to damage the starter and battery) and the starting fade is happening more often! I am reluctant to put it into the garage as intermittent faults always cost a fortune in guess repairs! :S
