Hi All

Freelander 1 2006 TD4 130,000 miles.

What oil do you suggest for an oil change on that mileage 5/40 or 10/40?

Thanks

I use 5w40 fully synthetic, but that's overkill. A 10w40 semi-synthetic will do just fine though.

Thanks for all the advice chaps. I shall suck as much oil out the dipstick as possible and then take the plug out the sump for a hour

Why bother sucked from the dip stick? Just let it out through the sump!
Or am i missing something?

Had mine for just under seven years and always used 5/30 fully synthetic and had no problems and it’s worked hard as it does a lot of towing

5/40 synthetic ..
( Granville Hypalube Fully Synthetic 5W/40 .. 5.ltr @ £16.32 )
went for the '40' as it were recommended for a ron-box equipped motor
'synthetic' as it has much less tendency to hang about a surface
and coke-up from heat ..
mainly had the turbo in mind .. and the sensors that may get splashed with hot oil
motor gets 60mil of extralube zx1 every oil change ( @ 6k mile )

currently 180k+ on odometer .. engine running and sounding fine ..
