does look ok, 6 x litres , does that include the filter change as well plse

did buy a genuine engine filter though and see u have to line it up onto the engine first then put the cover over after

can’t believe in a year i’ve ony done just over 2,000 miles and would rather just change the engine oil and filter

see that engine oil is also used if a dpf is fitted

however i haven’t got a DPF fitted , does it matter using this oil plse , as i see it’s also good for the catalytic converters which i do have fitted

“quote “

Thanks to its low phosphorus content it optimises the operation of the three-way catalytic converter by preventing soiling. It extends the maximum service life of the diesel particulate filter (DPF).

thks

I think my point is, if a v6 engine is expected to survive on 6 litres of oil, you ought to make sure it’s the best, rather than something that will do, I’m appalled the sump does not hold 8 litres minimum

I think you will find you need A5/B5 spec.
Im sure A3/B3 will be fine if you change it annually with your low miles, but I would get the right spec after all an engine is fooking expensive!

Ive just bought a load of 5/30 C3 oil for the wifes Audi and thats what my D3 is getting to.

Ps I think you will find its less than 6 litres, 5.5/5.7 rings a bell and like Freelance says way to small an amount of oil to be good for 10k miles and not have long term issues.
Wifes audi is a 3.0tdi v6 and holds 7.8 litres which is much more like it.

Read up on ACEA oil specs and be prepared to be baffled
In a nutshell A1/B1 spec is lowest but still good gear A5/B5 top notch and when they change the A for a C its pretty much the same idea but C = cat is DOC cat if it has one and a DPF, obviously thats very simplified!
I think C numbers go the other way so C1 is top dog and C3 is lowest, but please check!
A1 used to be top dog in the A number sequence but they changed it for some reason?

many thks and very true , indeed mind boggling and one thing i won’t skimp on is the engine oil , inc the engine oil filter , have bought a genuine one

ACEA as per book as u said is B1 or B3 , refil with filter 5.7 litres as @freelance also mentions

this one looks a better quality ,however as i haven’t got a DPF fitted would it do any damage

will also re check as u say ref the C classifications

thank u so much , always prefer to ask the daft questions when i’m unsure, especially as u say engines are expensive , no change out of 5k

IMO it's not so complicated, the recomended oil for the TDV6 MUST have both 5W/30 and WSS–M2C934–B within it's specs, the brand is your choice..simple as that, provided you want to follow LR recomendation cos otherwise the web is full of oill "experts" who didnt compare two data sheets ever but recommend oils based on theyr's own "intelligence"

True, even if the oil specification wasn't 20/50 is wasn't an issue in obtaining the correct oil even if the specification wasn't multigrade from the books/manuals available.
Now we have the common oil and tyre threads on Forums even though the information is easer to obtain with the www, for those that don't have a owners handbook:(

There's still the confused that have to post oil and tyre threads even though they can now obtain information easer now on the www. :(
I suppose not everyone has got a hand book that goes with the car but as you say it only takes a minute to goggle it
