good day to all,

currently I am running my Def TD5 2000 on engine oil 5W 30, in accordance with Manufacturer specs.
I live in a very hot tropical country and people have advised me to switch to a much heavier viscosity for a better lubrication of the engine.
I will appreciate your advice on the matter as I found that my engine is smoking a bit much a grey smoke.
all the best

see the attached chart and pic the proper one , the older the engine is the thicker you should put in it, in a tropical country 10W40 fully syntethic would be great... or even 10W50 if you have many many miles in it...i use this one startind from spring to late autumn http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_High_Mileage_10W-40.aspx , then puit 5w30 in it for winter, that's how i change oils cos here the summer is hot and the winter is friggin cold....around 150K mileage
