Often caused by lambda sensor or knackered cat, but can be caused by numerous things...you need someone with a simple OBII (Depending on age of motor) code reader who can check whats causing faults to start with.
You will now be told by thems that wear mad hats etc that you were a fookwit for buying a FL in the first place and you should burn it before it causes catastrophes of biblical proprtions, makes ya sterile and ruins ya marriage and start tanting on aboot HGF and all sorts of bollox....ignore them and they go away
Just read your post again and see its an oil burner... could also be egr valve/turbo hses etc etc etc
