Not the same.... but my my 1.8 had the same sort of fault and the diagnostic said MAF
however a suggestion pointed me in the direction of the Temp Sender( top of the head right hand front) £10 and a 19mm spanner = sorted.

Any other symptoms ?

found the problem and all seems tobe sorted now ... the sensor on the air pipe was faulty so i changed that and all back to normal now :)

does sound like maf but also i had a problem once and it turned out to be fuel filter and the engin light would come on as the engin is not getting enough fuel

if a sensor has faulted on the engine if i unplug it should that make the red engine maintenenace light go off!

the problem i have is i bought a second hand maf and think its faulty and ive orderd a new one for tomorrow but i dont fancy spending money out if it is just going to be a waste ... plus had my engine cheked today and it came back with error code 18 has anyone any ideas what that could be as my michanic had no ideas!!!
